About Evidence of the Breach
Lin Yan, an AI engineer, spent two years single-handedly developing the smart monitoring system for Qingxia Dam. But in his past life, he suffered devastating betrayal and ruin. He watched helplessly as the dam burst due to unchecked misjudgments by the unaudited AI. Su Wanqing, the safety inspector he admired most, drowned in the flood while saving workers. Meanwhile, his supervisor Zhou Ming—who had stolen his AI invention—and Zhao Qishan, the project manager who cut corners on construction, colluded to pin all the blame on Lin Yan. Amid the raging floodwaters, Lin Yan was pushed off a cliff, closing his eyes consumed by hatred and regret. When he opens his eyes again, Lin Yan has been reborn on the exact day Zhou Ming tries to seize his AI research data. Faced with the USB drive Zhou Ming holds out, instead of arguing fiercely like he did in his previous life, Lin Yan plays along and hands over the complete AI system voluntarily. This unusual move is no surrender—it is a carefully planned revenge. He knows Zhou Ming is greedy, arrogant, and obsessed with quick success. He will inevitably use the AI as a ladder for career advancement and commit irreversible mistakes in pursuit of extreme "cost reduction and efficiency gains." As expected, Zhou Ming steals the spotlight at the product launch with the AI, boasting to company boss Shen Chuan and the client that "the AI never makes mistakes and can fully replace human engineers." Tempted by cost savings, the client fires all on-site verification engineers on the spot. Shen Chuan keeps his promise and promotes Zhou Ming to Deputy General Manager, who then lays off most of the core R&D staff, leaving only Lin Yan to do odd jobs. During this time, Su Wanqing repeatedly discovers cracks at the dam’s base and insists on halting construction for a full inspection. Yet Zhou Ming dismisses her every time, claiming "the AI confirms the structure is stable." He only orders superficial repairs before rushing construction forward, letting hidden internal fissures spread undetected deep inside the dam.
