Look for the protagonist's actual agency
Strength can mean strategic judgment, practical skill, persistence, or the ability to set a boundary. Read for a decision the protagonist makes, rather than relying on her title, wealth, or a promise that others will admire her. A career-focused comeback creates different stakes from defending a child or challenging a family hierarchy.
Does a strong lead need to be powerful from the start?
No. A story can follow someone gaining independence or learning how to use an overlooked ability. This tag identifies a character focus; it does not guarantee an invulnerable protagonist, a particular personality, or a story without romantic dependence.
