Six years ago, Du Shuyun, a wealthy matriarch, disapproved of her daughter‑in‑law Jian Qing. She teamed up with Gu Xuewei, a woman who bore a striking resemblance to Jian Qing, to stage a trap. They arranged an intimate scene between Gu Xuewei and Yu Moting for Jian Qing to witness with her own eyes. Du Shuyun forced Jian Qing into divorce with a one‑billion‑yuan compensation deal. Heartbroken, Jian Qing signed the papers and fled overseas. Shortly after arriving abroad, Jian Qing discovered she was pregnant. She had intended to tell Yu Moting the news, yet she received his engagement invitation to Gu Xuewei together with the signed divorce documents. All hope died inside her. Gu Xuewei and Du Shuyun see Jian Qing and her daughter as thorns in their side and launch wave after wave of attacks: public humiliation at her doorstep, paint vandalism on her company storefront, drugging schemes targeting Yu Moting, pregnancy rumors to ruin her reputation at the grand opening ceremony, and even hiring thugs to kidnap Jian Qing for a huge ransom.
