About Twined Fates
Fifteen years ago, the Yun family experienced two significant events simultaneously—one tragic and one joyous. The joyous event was an imperial decree declaring that the newborn eldest daughter of the Yun family would be the future crown princess, destined to become the mother of the nation. The tragic event was that the Lady of the Yun family gave birth to twin daughters. In the Northern Qi dynasty, twins were considered an ominous sign, with the belief that "the birth of twins brings doom to the entire family." However, Lady Yun could not bear to harm her own children. Upon learning that the elder twin, Yun Weige, was born with a noble destiny, while the younger twin, Yun Weixi, was fated to suffer a life of hardship and unlikely to live past sixteen, the couple made a difficult decision. They decided to keep Yun Weixi in the Yun family, allowing her to take on her sister's fate, while Yun Weige was secretly taken to Ling Mountain by her master. There, she would live under a new identity, trained in martial arts, and the existence of the twins would be hidden from the world. From then on, the Yun family was known to have only one daughter—Yun Weixi, the future crown princess and the mother of the nation. Meanwhile, on the border battlefields, a legendary female general emerged, clad in crimson robes, wearing a mask, and wielding a silver spear, invincible in battle. Fifteen years later, tragedy struck when Yun Weixi, the younger twin, was abducted by bandits before her wedding and took her own life. To protect the family's honor and ensure their survival, Yun Weige was called upon to leave her life as a warrior behind and take her sister's place, marrying into the imperial palace as the queen of the nation. However, the tyrannical emperor, Chu Nache, harbored a deep longing for his deceased first love, Consort Hui. Every concubine in the palace was but a mere imitation of his "first love," and he particularly favored Consort Chen, Ye Yuyan, who bore an uncanny resemblance to her. When Yun Weige discovered that her sister Yun Weixi had been murdered by Consort Chen, she meticulously plotted her revenge. She exposed Ye Yuyan's crimes—sending bandits to abduct Yun Weixi before the wedding, murdering other concubines, and conspiring with external enemies to betray the nation. As a result, Ye Yuyan fell from grace, was stripped of her title, and banished to the cold palace. Later, Yun Weige ensured that Ye Yuyan was sent to a brothel, avenging her sister's death.
