The Earthly‑Dog Chef’s Epic Journey (Season 1)

About The Earthly‑Dog Chef’s Epic Journey (Season 1)

On the eve of the Divine Chef Grand Competition, Lu Zhancai, a culinary genius, climbs the cliff of Wolong Mountain late at night. He is hunting for *Smiling‑Hand Mushroom*, the final missing ingredient for *Phoenix‑Marrow Soup*, a lost state‑banquet masterpiece. His fingertips are inches away from the fungus when the guardrail snaps. This is no accident — clean saw marks line the broken edge. Lu Zhancai plummets into the deep valley and crashes onto a local mongrel dog named Dahuang at the cliff bottom. By some bizarre twist, their souls swap bodies. When Lu Zhancai regains consciousness trapped inside the dog’s body, he cannot speak human words. Meanwhile, his original human body lies in critical condition in hospital. Doctors diagnose catastrophic brain injury and prepare to pull the ventilator, giving up on saving him. Yu Jingwen, landlady of Heavenly Fragrance Restaurant, bursts into the emergency room with her bank card. She mortgages her restaurant to cover 500,000‑yuan medical fees. “As long as there is one breath left, we will not give up.” Lying outside the door in the dog’s body, Lu Zhancai witnesses her weary yet unyielding figure. For the very first time, he witnesses someone willing to risk everything for him. What enrages Lu Zhancai further is what he finds upon returning to the cliff: those neat saw‑marks prove this was attempted murder. Late one night, Lin Shaodong shows up in a baseball cap and sneers down toward the valley. “He survived such a fall? What tough luck!” He picks up the ancient recipe for *Phoenix‑Marrow Soup* dropped by Lu Zhancai and leaves with an evil grin. Hiding in the bushes, Dahuang‑Lu Zhancai sees the culprit clearly. To his horror, the man trying to kill him is none other than his senior fellow apprentice, Lin Shaodong. Only three days remain before the Divine Chef Grand Competition. Trapped in a dog’s body, Lu Zhancai is forced to re‑enter human society. Heavenly Fragrance Restaurant shuts down without its head chef, and Yu Jingwen is overwhelmed by loan pressure. Lin Shaodong repeatedly comes to taunt them, even publicly insulting Elder Shen: “That old fool is blind!” Pushed past his limit, Dahuang pounces and rakes three bloody gashes across Lin Shaodong’s face. Yu Jingwen shields the dog: “This is Zhancai’s dog. Don’t you dare hurt a hair on him!
