About Price of Overindulgence
Jolene, five months pregnant before marriage, had planned to share the happy news with her future mother-in-law when Hank took her back to Nanshan City to meet his family on New Year’s Day. After the holiday, they would return to Yuncheng and immediately register their marriage. She thought everything would go smoothly—until the ignorance of her future in-laws nearly cost her and her baby their lives far from home. During the 2025 Spring Festival, Hank brought his pregnant girlfriend Jolene home for the New Year, hoping to surprise his family. However, since they couldn’t get tickets for the same train, they had to travel separately to Nanshan City. Jolene arrived half an hour earlier and decided to buy some gifts before heading to Hank’s house. While stopping at a parking lot, she saw a child scratching a car. She tried to stop the kid, but the child burst into tears, drawing the attention of the parents and the grandmother—Sylvie, Hank’s mother and Jolene’s soon-to-be mother-in-law. Since they had never met before, neither recognized the other.
