About Chef in the Famine: Seven Cute Kids Fight to Spoil Me (Season 1)
Shen Yingtao, a modern‑day food blogger and gold‑medal winner of a national culinary contest, gets into a traffic accident and travels back to an ancient famine‑stricken era. She inhabits the body of a peasant woman also named Shen Yingtao, whose husband has passed away and who was driven half‑mad from misfortune. The original host was cast out of her home by her cruel mother‑in‑law Old Madam Li and sister‑in‑law Li Guiying. Left with seven young children, she dwells in a run‑down earthen hut with leaking walls. Food is extremely scarce during the famine. The seven children suffer constant hunger and cold, barely surviving by gathering discarded pig offal and wild vegetables. When Shen Yingtao wakes up after her transmigration and unties her ropes, the children mistake her for trying to take her own life with a knife. She convinces them that her mind has fully recovered. Drawing on her superb cooking skills, she turns despised pig offal into fragrant spiced braised delicacies. A food‑themed mini‑system activates. She earns points from the children’s positive feedback, which she redeems for famine‑rare supplies such as fine salt and spices. She makes braised pork intestines and brown‑sugar steamed buns to drastically improve the family’s meals. The kind‑hearted plump Aunt Pang and her husband Constable Zhang, who works for the local yamen, become vital supporters for Shen Yingtao’s family. She sets up a street stall in the village selling her braised dishes. Li Cuihua, the butcher’s wife, grows jealous and tries to extort her. Shen Yingtao stands her ground, intimidates Li Cuihua, and secures a long‑term supply deal for pig offal.
