5年前、唐沢えりは蓮見延礼の子を身ごもり蓮見家に嫁いだが、延礼は初恋相手梁川静しか想わず、えりと息子ハヤトを放置。えりは末期胃癌と診断され、最後にハヤトの5歳の誕生日を共に過ごしたいと延礼に懇願するも拒否される。誕生日当日、えりが発作で倒れ、ハヤトは事故で死亡。延礼は無関心な態度を取り、悲しみを爆発させたえりは真相を告げる。過去の誤解や梁川の書類偽造も明らかとなるが、すべて手遅れ。クリスマスの夜、えりは延礼の腕の中で息を引き取り、「来生も会いたくない」と告げる。
