The Don’s Ruined Rose

About The Don’s Ruined Rose

It is an epic short drama that blends mafia family power struggles, identity swap, tormented romance, revenge, healing and redemption. Set against the feud between two major New York mafia families, the WINSLOWs and the RUSSOs, the story depicts the tragic life of the heroine AILEEN, who falls from the heights into the abyss and seeks self-redemption amid despair. AILEEN was once the beloved daughter of the WINSLOW family, childhood sweethearts with the RUSSO don KELLEN and betrothed to him from an early age. However, ISABELLA comes forward with a forged DNA report to claim kinship. Overnight, AILEEN is reduced from the biological daughter to an impostor, facing coldness from her parents, misunderstanding from her elder brother and betrayal by her lover. During a border gunfight, AILEEN risks her life to save the severely wounded KELLEN, yet her sunflower silver pendant is stolen by ISABELLA, who takes credit for saving him and secures the inter-family engagement. ISABELLA further fabricates a full set of false evidence framing AILEEN for assault and colluding with enemies. Persuaded by her elder brother WILLIAM, father EVAN signs papers to have her confined in a private mafia sanatorium for three years. At the sanatorium, AILEEN suffers from debilitating controlled medication and bullying by other patients. The sudden death of DAISY, the daughter of DOCTOR who was her only comfort, triggers irreversible traumatic brain injury, and her memories gradually crumble. Her best friend COLLEEN joins forces with arms dealer JOSHUA to stage a car crash, helping AILEEN flee to a sunflower town in California under the alias White Rose, where she heals her trauma through painting. Three years later, they reunite at an art exhibition in New York. KELLEN recognizes AILEEN from her sunflower paintings. He chances upon a bystander who witnessed the gunfight back then and obtains the complete video recording of her rescue. Meanwhile, DNA test results are retrieved. The two pieces of solid evidence prove that ISABELLA has been living under a false identity for years. All conspiracies are exposed to the public. ISABELLA is sentenced to life imprisonment in the sanatorium, and all accomplices are brought to justice. KELLEN offers half of his assets to atone for his sins, while the remorseful WINSLOW family travels all the way to California to beg for forgiveness. Nevertheless, AILEEN’s trauma is permanent and irreversible. She abhors all underworld power and resolves to stay in the sunflower town with JOSHUA, who guards her gently. As her condition worsens, she gradually forgets everyone — her parents, her elder brother, KELLEN, and even JOSHUA. In the end, AILEEN passes away peacefully in a sunflower field in California, leaving everyone with irreparable regret for the rest of their lives. Centered on the core symbol of sunflowers, the drama weaves together profound themes of violence and tenderness, oblivion and remembrance, debt and redemption, exploring the huma
