About Checkmate, Losers
Jolie was adopted by Matthew before her death. Years later, she returned for his funeral and found his children, Jacob and Cathy, mistreated by their uncles. Resolved to reclaim the chairmanship, she outmaneuvered them at the board meeting and took power. They retaliated by framing her for murder and sabotaging her company, but she countered each move and made them pay. When Jacob proved unrepentant despite her guidance, she arranged his three-month imprisonment. The experience reformed him, and he came to respect Jolie wholeheartedly.
