運城の豪商である吉永一家の姪―吉永杏はビジネス界の新星であり、彼女の継母が生まれた妹―吉永洋子は吉永杏を嫉妬し、彼女を酒場のホストと性関係を結ぼうと陥れたが、思いがけず杏と関係を持った相手は最も裕福な高木一家の後継者―高木大輔になった。それを気づいた洋子は杏の代わりに大輔と関係を持った相手をなりすましたが、大輔は目を覚ました後、記者たちが今回の出来事をスキャンダルとして広めるのを気にかけて、去る前に家宝の玉佩を吉永杏に渡したと、洋子は知らないのである。一方、吉永杏はホストと関係を持ったと思われ、吉永一家から追い出され、運城でウェイターとして働いている。10か月後、吉永洋子は生まれた息子を連れて高木大輔に会い、裕福な高木家に入ることができた。しかし、吉永杏の息子は高木大輔の息子と同じ学校を通っていることは杏と大輔には、めぐり逢う運命があると定まっている。ある日、吉永杏の息子は高木大輔の息子にいじめられ、二人の息子がそっくりだったことに、両方の親は乗り出してから驚いた。ゆえに、6年前の真実も混沌たる陰謀の渦からどんどん浮き出している。
