林霧(リン・ウー)は結婚中に不倫をし、初恋の人である鄭柏霖(ジョン・バイリン)の言葉を信じたことで、夫・陸声(ルー・ション)が自分の財産を狙い、娘を利用して金を脅し取ろうとしていると誤解してしまう。その結果、彼女は娘を見殺しにするという取り返しのつかない選択をしてしまう。 しかし真実は、陸声こそが身分を隠しながら陰で林霧の事業を支え続けていた人物であり、鄭柏霖は彼女に近づき、陸声の研究計画を盗み、さらに財産を騙し取ろうとしていただけだった。 すべてが明らかになった後、林霧は深く後悔するが、陸声と娘はもはや彼女を許ばない。陸声は長年想い続けてきた後輩の女性を選び、娘の陸淼淼も自ら新しい母親を迎える道を選ぶ。その姿を前に、林霧はただ後悔に沈むしかなかった。
