ビジネスエリートの江軽染（ジャン・チンラン）は、夫・宋硯（ソン・イエン）と結婚して三年。幼少期のトラウマから子どもを持たない選択をしていたが、妊娠検査の際、自分が「持っていたはずの結婚証明」が偽物であることを知る。しかも宋砚はすでに親友の未亡人・周書瑶（ジョウ・シューヤオ）と正式に婚姻届を出しており、彼女の娘・宋清清（ソン・チンチン）と三人で暮らしていた。 江軽染は一度は宋硯を許そうとするものの、彼は度々一線を越え、終始周書瑶母娘を庇い続ける。失望した江軽染は宋家との関係をきっぱり断ち、さらに自身の妊娠を公表する。宋硯は深く後悔するが、すでに手遅れだった。 五年後、娘を連れて帰国した江軽染は、若き社長・裴琛（ペイ・チェン）と出会う。裴琛は誠実に彼女を想い、彼女と娘を尊重し、大切に扱い、その真心で江軽染の心を動かしていく。やがて二人は新しい家族を築く。 一方、宋硯は贖罪の中で事故に遭い、無念と反省を残したままこの世を去るのだった。
