唐心洛（とうしんらく）は、思いを寄せる宋程（そうてい）に対する当てつけで、彼と勢いで結婚する。しかし結婚後、夫にも娘にも心を開かず、冷たく接してしまう。 そんな中、かつての恋人・趙子川（ちょうしせん）が娘を連れて帰国。唐心洛は過去の過ちを償おうと、彼の娘にばかり愛情を注ぎ、なんとか取り戻そうとするが、その裏で実の娘・安安（あんあん）を疎かにしてしまう。 心を閉ざした安安は父・宋程とともに家を出ていき、唐心洛は趙子川に裏切られたことでようやく自分の過ちに気づく。しかし、その時にはすでに家族は戻ってこなかった。 ――それから十二年。成長した安安と唐心洛は、まるで他人のような関係に。唐心洛は誰にも看取られず、孤独のうちに人生を終えるのだった。
