このドラマは封建的な小さな村に残る古い風習、低俗な結婚披露宴の騒動について語っています。新婦や新郎がからかわれるのではなく、代わりに付き添いの女性がからかわれます。伝統的な結婚式では、ドアを塞いでゲームをし、紅包（ご祝儀）を求め、幸運を願ったりします。しかし、王家村には数百年続く付き添いの女性へのいじめという伝統があります。騒動の間、付き添いの女性は無条件でその規則と方法に従わなければなりません。もし従わなかったり拒否した場合、その家族は不運に見舞われ、村人たちから一生軽蔑されることになります。主人公の林小溪は、今日、姉の林小芸と義兄の王正渠の付き添いの女性として、一緒に王家村に訪れています。
