"南越国では同じ日に二人の女児が生まれた。高僧は「そのうち一人が運命の子で、いずれ天下を一つに統べる母となるだろう」と予言した。しかしその“誰”であるかは、十八年後の政略結婚の時になって初めて明らかになるという。 南越王は天命を持つのは越迎春だと決めつけ、莫大な財をかけて彼女を育てた。一方で、もう一人の少女・越雲禾にはまったく目も向けなかった。 十八年後、南越の国力は衰え、やむなく和親を結ぶことになる。南越王と容妃は画策し、越迎春を北斎皇室へ嫁がせ、越雲禾は蛮族の地へ遠嫁させられることになった。 越雲禾は、母が宮中に囚われたままであるため、涙をこらえて嫁ぎ先へと向かった。しかし、はるばる蛮荒へたどり着いてみると、待っていたのは想像とはまったく違う光景だった。 “蛮族の若き首領”と聞かされていた人物は、実は梁王。 貧しい辺境と思われていた地には、金銀財宝があふれ、まるで別世界のようであった――。"
