老舗レストラン「香満楼」で10年間、総料理長を務めてきた関大山（グワン・ダーシャン）。しかし、目先の利益しか見えない強欲な女社長の王春花（ワン・チュンホワ）と、最新の食品添加物を盲信する海外帰りのディレクター・趙凱（ジャオ・カイ）によって、屈辱的な言葉とともに突然解雇されてしまう。 彼らは伝統の職人技を捨て、工業用添加物を使った低コストの料理で暴利を貪ろうとしていたのだ。泥を塗られた大山だったが、料理人としての矜持を捨てることはなかった。 彼は香満楼の真向かいにある路地裏で小さな屋台を開き、長年守り続けてきた「秘伝のタレ」だけで勝負に出る。 本物の味を求める客たちは次々と大山の屋台へと流れていき、一方で添加物により味も安全性も崩壊した香満楼は客離れを起こして破産へと追い込まれていく。 かつて大山を見下した春花は皿洗いに落ちぶれ、趙凱は罪に問われて刑務所へ。大山は己の良心と確かな技術で奇跡の逆転劇を果たし、街の新たな美食の伝説となるのだった。
